ASSISTANCE FOR BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY THE VICTORIAN BUSHFIRES, THE FLOODS IN NORTHERN QUEENSLAND AND THE OIL SPILL ON BEACHES ON THE SUNSHINE COAST, QUEENSLAND
There are various forms of relief for owners of small to medium accommodation business that have seriously impacted by the bushfires in Victoria, the floods caused by cyclones Charlotte and Ellie in Queensland, the oil slick affecting some beaches on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Publicity in the media has generated concern from the community, but also caused a situation where the travelling public are either concerned for their safety in these areas, or consider their appeal as a holiday destination to be damaged. Once the danger period has passed, tourism provides a significant boost to these communities, both financially and in restoring normality to those most seriously affected.
