The Scenic Skyway cablecar over Cooks Crossing at Katoomba in the Blue Mountains New South Wales Australia.
The Blue Mountains National Park begins in the foothills 65km inland from Sydney City. It is spectacular with gorges, gum trees and sheer sandstone cliffs beckoning serious bush walkers and climbers. The park and the "Three Sisters" (identical peaks which appear to stand side by side) can best be viewed from the Cooks Crossing Scenic Skyway.
A popular weekend retreat in winter and summer, the Blue Mountains are part of the Great Dividing Range and have several mountain towns which form the main tourist centre: Mount Victoria, Blackheath, Katoomba, Leura and Wentworth Falls in the Upper Mountains and further down the escarpment: Lawson, Falconbridge and Springwood.
