The "Coonawarra" - a paddle steamer riverboat on the Murray River in New South Wales Australia.
The Murray River is nature's boundary between NSW and Victoria with most of the larger towns on the Victorian side. In NSW there are rich alluvial paddocks for kilometres with some of the best farming in the state.
Paddle steamers, houseboats and river boats ply this huge river and a trip on one of them is an especial relaxing experience much sort after by international tourists. On route up river the boat passes ancient forests of red gums, rich pastures and wetlands filled with a variety of bird life.
At Barham there's a quaint old lift up bridge and at Echuca-Moama there is a collection of old paddle steamers moored at Red Gum Wharf.
