The Skifields at Thredbo in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales Australia.
The Snowy Mountains are Australia's only ski-fields and straddle the NSW/Victoria border. Most of the region is in the Snowy Mountains National Park and contains Mt Kosciuszko, the country's highest mainland peak.
The main ski resorts of Thredbo, Perisher/Blue Cow and Smiggin Holes are in the high country and have the main downhill ski runs. Charlotte Pass, Guthega and Mt Selwyn are a bit further north on smaller down hill slopes.
The Snowy River made famous by Banjo Paterson's poem "The Man From Snowy River" rises below the summit of Mt Kosciuszko. In summer along the river banks and in the national park the wild flowers are plentiful which makes for great two and three day horse riding/camping trips.
