What is T-QUAL Accreditation?
T-QUAL Accreditation is the Australian Government’s partnership with quality tourism accreditation, rating and certification programs. Its logo, the T-QUAL Tick, is a symbol of excellence that identifies quality tourism businesses and operators in Australia.

 AUSTRALIAN TOURISM ACCREDITATION PROGRAM (ATAP)
ATAP sets standards in ethical conduct and fundamental operation practices. These include business management and safety procedures, consumer protection, appropriate skills and environmental practices. Accredited businesses display the program’s distinctive yellow tick on a green background.
ATAP certified tourism businesses can display the brand logo, as well as the combined accreditation tick and T-QUAL logo.
 ECO-CERTIFICATION
Members who display the ECO Certification logo have demonstrated that their businesses are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable.ECO certified tourism businesses can display the brand logo, as well as the combined accreditation tick and T-QUAL logo.
 The Australian STAR Rating Scheme, managed by AAA Tourism on behalf of Australia’s Auto Clubs, provides consistent STAR Ratings for over 7,000 accommodation properties Australia-wide.
Each property within the Australian STAR Rating Scheme is assessed in accordance with a wide set of standards, which cover three major areas:
- Facilities & Services
- Cleanliness
- Quality & Condition
A series of guiding principles help categorise the standard of quality, attributes and amenities expected of each STAR Rating band:
 Properties that typify excellence across all areas of operation. Guests will enjoy an extensive range of facilities and comprehensive or highly personalised service relevant to the accommodation type. Properties at this level will display exceptional design quality and attention to detail.
 Properties which satisfy the varied and discerning needs and wants of their guests. A wide range of facilities is typically complemented by service standards that deliver a unique accommodation experience. Superior design qualities reflect the level of comfort expected by guests.
 Properties that deliver service standards and a broad range of facilities or amenities that exceed above-average accommodation needs. Good quality design and physical attributes are typically fit for purpose and enhance the overall guest experience.
 Properties with adequate standards of quality and a moderate range of facilities that are positioned to meet the needs of price conscious travellers. Services are typically limited to accommodate the independent traveller but may be available upon request or fee-based.
 Properties that meet acceptable standards of quality and offer basic facilities without compromising cleanliness or guest security. Guests may access fee-based services or facilities upon request.
 Half "STAR" Ratings indicate modest improvements in the quality and condition of a property’s facilities, amenities and services.
 Eco-Friendly STAR AccreditationEco Friendly STAR is an entry-level environmental management and accreditation program that has been developed in collaboration with expert consultants and practitioners from EarthCheck. It is an additional endorsement of your property and separate to your official STAR Rating.
Eco-Friendly STAR is a self assessment program that includes a desktop and property audit. Upon successful completion of the desk-top audit, your property will be awarded Eco-Friendly STAR Accreditation.
