Research is vital to any planning process. A number of research institutions have studied this sector of the accommodation industry, but we still lack a complete overview of its scope in Australia and the impact of societal trends on its future. BBFAA will work with researchers to build an accurate profile of the industry and provide comprehensive data as a resource. In the meantime, we will list research studies of intereste as they become available.
If you are seeking information about setting up an accommodation business, BBFAA publishes a Guide for new operators. This has information about the tourism industry at the federal and state levels; mandatory licensing information and a section on equipping accommodation, marketing and managing the business including setting tariffs, writing a marketing plan and wording a cancellation policy. Currently, the Guide is only available with Victorian and South Australian information but is under development for other states and territories. Click here for more information
If you wish to research occupany levels in your locality your regional or local tourism organisation or accredited Visitor Information Centre may be able to assist.
